Julia Rugg
Founder / Managing Director

Julia Rugg has had her hand in the performing arts since her days as
a 4-year-old Suzuki violin student. Although she now only sings in the shower, her passion for world class arts education dovetails with her years of corporate management and public education experience and uniquely positions her as a results-oriented managing director. Studying acting as a BFA at Ithaca College was a transformative experience and led Julia to pursue additional undergraduate and graduate degrees in child development and elementary education. Julia is passionate about the integration of theater arts, mental and behavioral health, and education. As a local MCS parent, Julia will drive collaboration between the Delaware County School of Performing Arts, Margaretville Arts Center, local schools, and behavioral health services, to increase  the availability of performing arts education for all.
Julia looks forward to serving the Delaware County arts community and would love to hear from you! She can be reached at: julia@mvillearts.org

Ann Donohue bicknell
Dance Instructor

image0_edited.jpg

Ann received her BFA (cum laude) in Dance Performance from the Boston Conservatory in 2001.  She danced in several companies in NYC before ultimately forming her own company, performing all over NYC and in the northeast.  She made a creative home at Williamsburg Art NeXus (WAX), where she showed work frequently and also served as the Gallery Coordinator.

After several years of having a nice run as a performer and choreographer, she shifted her focus to teaching full time, healing injuries, and getting geeky about biomechanics. Ann has taught dance for the last 30 years in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. Her teaching style honors the great forms of classical dance with an emphasis on healthy functional alignment, and an awareness of effort, intention, dynamics, and musicality.

Ann has also taught Pilates for the last 23 years and holds two 600 hour Comprehensive Certifications. She currently teaches Pilates year round from her home studio in the Catskills: Sláinte Pilates- offering Private Sessions, Online Sessions, as well as a seasonal forestbathing studio for small groups.

Ann is also a music dabbler, and made a solo record of original songs produced by Michael Tudor. She plays drums, guitar, and keys- sometimes with her wonderful husband Bick, but mostly for her most loyal audience- Caoimhe (aka the bestest doggy ever)

Ann is thrilled to be working with like minded artists of all ages at MAC!
